Hurricane Helene relief efforts

Our Credit Union proudly supported Western North Carolina with nearly $9 million to address immediate needs and long-term recovery of impacted communities. Learn more or get involved with SECU Foundation

  • $3.75 million in Phase 1 provided food, water, and shelter through Feeding the Carolinas, The Salvation Army, and American Red Cross.

  • $1.75 million in Phase 2 helped with temporary housing, financial crises, and food insecurity, supporting Baptists on Mission and MANNA FoodBank.

  • $3.45 million in Phase 3 supported long-term housing, resources for at-risk groups, and increased organizational capacity, including repairing homes and expanding volunteer services.

Financial summary

SECU maintained strong assets of $56 billion and effectively managed operating costs with only 2.7% growth, demonstrating a commitment to members' financial well-being. This stewardship allowed SECU to pass on greater benefits, resulting in a $1 billion increase in member deposits and $501 million more in dividends earned through higher deposit rates lik Share Term Certificates and Money Market Share Accounts.
