Frequently asked questions about the Cash Rewards Card

Members may apply for a Cash Rewards Card online through Member Access, over the phone by contacting Member Services Support at (888) 732-8562, or at your local branch. Members must be 18 years of age or older or otherwise eligible for lending services to apply. New lending is restricted to residents of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia.

To report a lost or stolen card, contact Member Services Support at (888) 732-8562 or your local branch. Our representatives can assist you with replacing your card and reporting any fraudulent transactions.

 

If you think you’ve misplaced your card and would like to look for it before requesting a replacement, use the Card Lock feature in the Mobile App while you search.

Once a new card has been requested, it typically takes 7-10 business days to arrive.

You may request a balance transfer in Member Access or by visiting your local branch. Learn more about credit card balance transfers.

You can request a credit line increase through Member Access, by contacting Member Services Support at (888) 732-8562, or at your local branch. Credit line increases are permitted for existing credit cards regardless of the state in which you reside. Credit line increases must be approved and are not guaranteed.

 

Your credit limit may automatically increase from time to time based on your repayment history and other factors. We will notify you of any automated increase. Contact us if you’d like to decline automated increases.

Visa applies a fee to any international transaction. The fee is 1% of the U.S. dollar amount of the international transaction. An international transaction includes (a) any transaction made in a foreign currency, and (b) any transaction made or processed outside of the United States. You can dispute credit card transactions through Member Access, by contacting Member Services Support at (888) 732-8562, or at your local branch.

If you notice transactions that you did not make or approve, notify us immediately by contacting Member Services Support at (888) 732-8562. If you do not report fraud in a timely manner, we may not be able to reimburse you.

You can make payments online through Member Access by transferring money from another SECU account, over the phone by contacting Member Services Support at (888) 732-8562, at a CashPoints® ATM, or at your local branch.

Joint cardholders and authorized users will earn the same rewards on eligible purchases as the primary cardholder.

Cardholders will earn 1.5% base rewards per dollar spent on all qualifying purchases, uncapped. Cardholders who meet program eligibility requirements will earn 0.5% bonus rewards per dollar spent on all qualifying purchases, uncapped, in addition to 1.5% base rewards, for a total of 2% cash back.4

In order to qualify to earn the additional 0.5% bonus rewards, cardholders must meet the following requirements:

  1. Have and maintain in good standing any of the following SECU deposit account types: Checking, Share, Money Market Share, CashPoints® Global, Health Savings Account, Holiday Cash Club, Summer Cash, or Individual Retirement Account. SECU accounts that do not qualify include Share Term Certificate, NC 529, Coverdell Education Savings, FAT CAT,® and Zard® Accounts.

  2. Have monthly direct deposits in any of the qualifying accounts totaling $500 or more, in aggregate.

Caveat for new cardholders

New cardholders will automatically qualify to earn bonus rewards for the first three calendar months following their Cash Rewards Card account opening regardless of the deposit account and direct deposit requirements being met. Cardholders must meet the deposit account and direct deposit requirements by the end of the third full month that their Cash Rewards Card account is opened in order to qualify to earn bonus rewards in the fourth month.

 

For example, if a cardholder opens their Cash Rewards Card account on January 15, they would automatically qualify to earn bonus rewards for the remainder of January as well as the months of February, March, and April. The cardholder must meet the deposit account and direct deposit requirements in any two of the months of February, March, or April in order to qualify to earn bonus rewards for the month of May.

 

All cardholders on an account (including joint and authorized users) will earn the same rewards (1.5% or 2%) as the primary cardholder. Eligibility will be based on the primary cardholder’s deposit accounts.
