SECU Statement on Justice and Unity

State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) stands against racism, inequality and injustice. We denounce the actions which led to the death of George Floyd. We share in the grief, sadness and outrage that is being felt across the globe.

We support diversity, equity, inclusion and basic human rights, including the right to peacefully protest to advocate for change. People have a right to be heard and to work toward correcting the atmosphere of bias and racism that have too long been a part of our history.

SECU operates with a “Do the Right Thing” focus and a “People Helping People” philosophy. We are a not-for-profit financial cooperative that was born out of the desire to provide affordable financial services to all members without regard to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or social position.

We take our commitment to member service seriously. Part of this commitment means speaking up when we see injustice that needs to be corrected. We encourage and value the diversity of our members and our staff. We strive to improve lives while strengthening North Carolina communities. It is our fervent hope that recent events result in actions that foster a unified and fair society in which all families live without fear and with mutual respect for one another.
