Community Engagement

SECU is very active in our communities, supporting a variety of programs and initiatives that help us engage with and uplift our members and the people of our state. People Helping People® is more than our philosophy, it’s a way of life.

Governor's School Supply Drive

Donate supplies at a local branch for the 2025 Governor’s School Supply Drive to help North Carolina students and teachers get the items they need for a successful school year. SECU branches serve as collection sites from June 30 to August 1, 2025.

  • Dry erase boards (lined/unlined), dry erase markers, erasers, and cleaner/spray
  • Pencils and electric pencil sharpeners
  • Markers (broad/fine), colored pencils, and black and blue pens
  • Fidget toys
  • Adult scissors
  • Two-pocket folders
  • Staplers, staples, and glue sticks
  • Cardstock (assorted colors) and copy paper
  • Headphones
  • Tissues
  • Hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes

Summer Camp Awards

SECU’s Summer Camp Awards program gives FAT CAT® and Zard® members a chance to enjoy a fun summer experience. During the campaign, youth members can apply for a $500 award to help cover the costs of their camp expenses for the summer season. Hundreds of SECU youth are realizing their summer camp dreams through this exciting program.

Winter Toy Drive

SECU’s statewide Annual Toy Drive helps spread joy to North Carolina children and families during the holiday season. Working collaboratively with local organizations and charities, the successful program has resulted in the collection and delivery of thousands of toys in our communities across the state.
