Amaka Flynn has been a member of SECU for 29 years and has served on the SECU and SECU Foundation Boards of Directors since 2025. She previously served on her local branch Advisory Board and as an at-large member of the SECU Board Nominating Committee. Flynn is a retired senior contract monitoring specialist with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Health Benefits.

She is also a member of the State Employees Association of North Carolina.

Flynn earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Master of Arts in Counseling from North Carolina Central University.
