Outreach Efforts

SECU takes an active role in assisting schools, organizations and communities across North Carolina through programs, scholarships and philanthropy. The Credit Union truly believes in "People Helping People®". Through the efforts of its employees and member volunteers, SECU can provide opportunities to enhance the lives of North Carolinians!

Artwork on Display

State Employees' Credit Union has partnered with elementary, middle and high schools across the state to display students' artwork inside local branches. These partnerships help SECU increase its reach into the educational community and provides students with an opportunity to show off their creative talents.

Bluebird Houses

Reinvesting in North Carolina by helping create a better environment for creatures native to our State, SECU sells bluebird houses in branch offices. Frank Newell and Anthony Steed of Eastern Bluebird Rescue Group and their volunteers are responsible for the construction of these top quality birdhouses. To date, over 240,000 bluebird houses have been sold to SECU members statewide.

March of Dimes

SECU participates in the March of Dimes March for Babies® fundraiser. Each year, more than half a million babies are born too soon, too small or too sick in the United States. If they survive, they may have lifelong health problems. March for Babies draws thousands of walkers from approximately 500 communities across the nation in support of lifesaving research and educational programs that help women have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. In 2017, SECU had almost 300 walkers participate in the Triangle March for Babies, raising over $60,000. Other SECU teams from around the State participated in walks and fundraising events within their communities to add several thousand dollars more to the Credit Union's cumulative support of March of Dimes.

SECU Foundation

The SECU Foundation, funded solely by SECU members, was chartered to help identify and address community issues that are beyond the normal scope of State Employees' Credit Union. The Foundation promotes local and community development by primarily funding high impact projects in the areas of housing, education, health care and human services. Information on all projects funded through the Foundation can be found on the SECU Foundation website.

State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC)

SECU proudly participates in the State Employees Combined Campaign. This campaign was established in 1984 to allow State employees the opportunity to contribute to charitable organizations in a convenient, orderly and uniform process. Since State Employees' Credit Union's membership base is largely made up of State employees, the Credit Union actively participates in the SECC's statewide campaign.

Through the SECC, State employees have donated over $103 million for hundreds of charitable organizations serving North Carolinians. In 2016, SECU employees statewide contributed nearly $100,000 to the State Employees Combined Campaign.
