College Foundation, Inc. (CFI) is a non-profit corporation created for the purpose of assisting post-secondary students with educational expenses and
is the central loan originator for North Carolina's Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) for post-secondary education.
The Credit Union endorses participation in the programs that CFI offers.

Specifications
Maximum loan amount for undergraduate students is $3,500 for the first year, $4,500 for the second year and $5,500 for the remaining years.
Maximum loan amount for graduate students is $8,500 per year.
Payments are deferred until 6 months after school enrollment ends.
Terms and conditions are subject to change as a result of amendments to federal and state law.
Federally subsidized loans offered for those who demonstrate financial need.
Unsubsidized loans available to those who do not demonstrate a financial need. The interest must be paid quarterly, but the interest
rate is the same as a subsidized loan.
EXTRA Education Loan
Do you still need more money to pay for college expenses, even after applying for all available federal financial aid? Consider North Carolina’s
EXTRA Education Loan! Beginning July 1, 2008, SECU has partnered with College Foundation, Inc. (CFI) to also fund a supplemental loan, which is called an
EXTRA Education Loan. This loan can range from a minimum of $200 up to a maximum of the cost of attendance, less other financial aid certified by your
school. Borrow only what you need!
Specifications
Qualifying SECU members will receive a ½% interest rate discount.
There are no origination, guarantee or repayment fees on this loan.
The interest rate on an EXTRA Education Loan is a variable rate.
Payments are deferred until 6 months after school enrollment ends.
